SILICONE HOSE MANUAL

SILICONE hose performance

Resistance to temperature extremes -65°F-350°F and even up to 500 °F
long service life compared to EPDM and organic materials.
Weather resistant to; harsh sunlight & dry conditions, ozone, and rain water.
High resistance to water absorption.
Odorless and tasteless,inert.
Resistance to compression set& deformation, esp. at high & low temps.
No outgasing since it doesn't contain sulfur or acid producing chemicals.
will not cause staining, corrosion,& won't support mold or bacteria growth.
Offered in attractive color options and with a glossy or matte finish.
Cost effective, complex shapes can replace expensive metal tubes.
Excellent physical properties; good burst strength, vacuum and kink resistance.
Cost effective compared to metal tubes, a single hose eliminates multiple parts.
Complex shapes are possible with offsets, spigots, multiple diameters, etc.

SILICONE DATA & APPLICATIONS

Silicone rubber has historically been used in specialty applications in order to meet requirements other elastomers cannot. Silicones have the largest application temperaturespan of all rubbers (-120 F to +500 F, with one or two exceptions where highly specializedand costly Fluoropolymers can compare).

Their chemical structure allows Silicones to be the most benign of all rubbers in medicalapplications (again, the exception are some very costly Fluoroelastomers).Cytotoxity testsof Silicone parts made with simple formulations show no adverse effects.

The US military applies the longest shelf life criteria to Silicone rubber components. For example, a coolant hose made with Silicone meeting SAE J20, is given a shelf life of 20 years, whereas those made with chloroprene rubber meeting SAE J20 are given a shelf life of 8 years.

The benign nature of this rubber makes components made with Silicone ideal for electronicapplications, where long life and chemical inertness are essential to good electrical integrityover the component’s life. Silicone rubber parts can be made extremely conductive or highly insulative.

ln the automotive components market Silicone rubber has found major utilities in break linecomponents, electrical grommets, radiator hoses, fuel line check valves (Fluorosilicone) andil Pan and Rocker Cover gaskets, as well as Spark Plug boots. lt is estimated that in amodern car, 25% of the rubber components (excluding tires) are made of Silicone rubber.

why use silicone hose

Silicone rubber hoses perform extremely well under severe temperature and environmentalextremes. Standard and custom silicone hoses have a useful life that is far superior to typical organic rubber materials and EPDM.Another reason to use silicone hose is that it iseconomical compared to bent metal tubes. Last, certainly not least, the trend towards morestringent emission requirements result in greater heat generation. Silicone is up to the challenge and increasingly the favored choice of design engineers.

high temperature resistance

Silicone hoses consistently outperform organic (black rubber or EPDM) hoses to high temperatures of 350° and 500°F when reinforced with aramid or Nomex fabric. Evenunder extreme conditions the silicone hose will retain excellent tensile strength, elongation, and tear & abrasion resistance.Through the above article, we can recommend you the latest dresses.Shop dress in a variety of lengths, colors and styles for every occasion from your favorite brands.

low temperature flexibility

Silicone hose can maintain dynamic flexibility to temperatures as low as -65 °F.

compression set resistance

Silicone hose is superior to other elastomers in resistance to compression set or deformation, particularly at high and low temperatures. This is particularly important when asilicone rubber part is used in a bellows application where the component is placed underpressure or is flexed often where there is movement between components.

Weather & Ozone Resistance

Silicone hose substantially resists the deteriorating effects of sunlight, ozone, rain water, and atmospheric gases, that cause weathering. Even in a very dry environment combined with harsh sunlight our silicone hose will perform well.

water resistance

Silicone rubber is noted for its water resistance. lt has an extremely low degree of water absorption and its mechanical properties show minimal change, even after long periods ofimmersion.
